Welcome to KnownCars, a community site where vehicle owners share reviews and document issues. By using KnownCars you agree to these terms. The short version: post honestly, own what you write, don't game the reviews, and understand that everything here is owner opinion — not professional advice. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.

1. Accepting these terms

By creating an account or using the site, you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use KnownCars. You must be at least 13 years old to use the site.

2. Your account

Provide accurate registration information and keep your login credentials secure — you're responsible for activity on your account.
One account per person. Don't share, sell, or transfer your account.
We recommend enabling two-factor authentication from the Security page.

3. Your content

You own the reviews, issue reports, responses, and other content you post. By posting content on KnownCars, you grant us a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to use, host, store, display, reproduce, aggregate, analyze, and create derivative works from that content in connection with operating, promoting, and improving KnownCars, including in aggregated or anonymized forms. This license is what lets us show your review to other visitors, keep it in discussion threads, and build community statistics such as common-problem summaries.

Content you post is public and appears with your username.
You are solely responsible for what you post. Post only what you have the right to share, and keep factual claims honest and based on your own experience.
Deleting content or your account ends future use of your content in identifiable form, but aggregated or anonymized data that no longer identifies you may be retained.

4. Acceptable use

Review integrity is the entire point of KnownCars. You agree not to:

Post fake, paid, or incentivized reviews, or review vehicles you have no genuine experience with.
Post on behalf of a manufacturer, dealer, or other commercial interest without clearly disclosing it.
Manipulate votes, ratings, or reputation — including with multiple accounts.
Post content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, or infringes someone else's rights.
Impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation.
Spam, advertise, or post off-topic promotional content.
Scrape, harvest, or bulk-download site content or user data, or circumvent rate limits and other technical protections.
Interfere with the operation or security of the site.

5. Moderation and termination

We may remove or edit any content, and suspend or terminate any account, at our discretion — including for violations of these terms, suspected review manipulation, or to comply with law. You may stop using the site at any time and may request deletion of your account via the feedback page.

6. Content is opinion, not advice

Reviews, ratings, issue reports, and community statistics on KnownCars are the opinions and experiences of individual users. They are not verified by KnownCars, and they are not mechanical, safety, financial, or purchasing advice. Vehicles vary; do your own research and consult qualified professionals before making decisions. Views expressed by users do not represent KnownCars.

7. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

KnownCars is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including accuracy, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, KnownCars and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the site or reliance on its content. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us to use the site (currently: nothing).

8. Our content

The KnownCars name, logo, site design, and software are ours and may not be copied or used without permission. Manufacturer and model names and logos belong to their respective owners and are used only to identify the vehicles being discussed; KnownCars is not affiliated with or endorsed by any vehicle manufacturer.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update this page and its effective date. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts located there.
